A new guidance note released on 23 July 2026 requires all humanitarian partners working in Lebanon to keep accurate and up-to-date records of their contingency stocks. The note, issued by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and published on ReliefWeb, states that organisations must revise their inventory whenever stocks enter or leave their warehouses and must submit a full update at least once every two weeks.

The requirement is designed to improve emergency response capacity. Accurate stock information gives a clear picture of available resources across the country, makes it easier to spot shortages quickly, and strengthens evidence-based requests for additional support when gaps appear.

Although the guidance applies only to operations in Lebanon, the principle of frequent and reliable stock reporting is relevant to any region that faces sudden crises. In places such as Kitui County and Tseikuru Sub-County, similar systems are used by government departments and aid agencies during drought, flood or disease-response operations. Local officials and community groups may therefore find value in reviewing how regularly their own contingency supplies are currently tracked.
